U2

U2 is good. They were best in the early 1980s and have remained good in various phases. But for God's sake, let's stop overrating them. If I hear one more person name them the best band in history, or even in the top 10, I may vomit.

Even in their heyday, they weren't even as good as, say, Billy Squire.

To U2 freaks: Nah, mug.

Same goes for Bruce Springsteen. Good but not the best. Just stop blathering about it.

I find that mugs who consider these artists to be the pinnacle of music just don't have a very expansive exposure to or familiarity with music. Again, both U2 and Bruce are good stuff, but to say they are the greatest or even up there is like saying Chili's and Applebee's are the greatest restaurants ever.

  1. I don't get why the hell it matters to you if someone else thinks they are the best band. If you want to think Billy Squier is better that's your right, just like it's a U2 fan's right to think they are the best.

I really have never heard any rock critic or rock music journalist list either of these as the absolute best on their list.
